‘La La Land,’ ‘Passengers,’ ‘Hidden Figures’ take ADG awards

The 21st annual Art Directors Guild has announced winners for the awards ceremony held in the US city of Los Angeles.

2017 Oscar favorite ‘La La Land’ won the top feature film awards during the Art Directors Guild Excellence in Production Design Awards held at Hollywood and Highland center on Saturday.

Another Oscar favorite, ‘Passengers’ took the fantasy film prize over, among others, Oscar-nominated ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ and ‘Arrival’.

Meanwhile, Oscar nominee, ‘Hail, Caesar!, lost the period film race to ‘Hidden Figures’.

Films placed in the ADG awards have stellar reviews at the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony, including last year’s Oscar champ for Best Production Design — ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ — which won the Best Fantasy Design at the ADG Awards.

‘La La Land’ is an American musical comedy about a musician who meets and falls in love with an aspiring actress in Los Angeles.

So far, the film has set a record by winning seven Golden Globes awards.
